Renting a car in Crete
Crete is Greece's largest island and there is a lot to see - beaches, mountains, waterfalls and historical sites. Renting a car is one of the best ways to experience all of that.
The rental price per day should not be above 50 euros (for economic car option).
Booking in advance, especially during the summer, is crucial to securing the best deal. If you can not book it online, I recommend giving company a call or writing an email.
As there are available charter buses from Iraklio and Chania to Rethymno, you do not need to rent a car, but it is an option if you want to discover the island on your own.
Even though I have not been to Crete myself just yet, I made a little research on the car renting companies:
Here is a list of companies that have good reviews on Google. Just for testing purposes, I selected the dates 09 to 15 of September 2024 (6 days) in Iraklio.
Auto Rentals
4.9 stars - 280 reviews
Locations in both Chania and Iraklio. No hidden fees, with all costs clearly outlined during booking. Unlike many other companies, AutoRentals allows an additional driver at no extra charge. Prices can surge during high season, making early booking essential.
